The Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is the busiest airport in the world. It serves over 88 million passengers, and almost 1 million flights per year. It serves as the primary hub for Delta Airlines, AirTran Airways, and Atlantic Southeast Airlines. It has 151 domestic, 28 international gates, and has five runways. Because of the airport's prominence as a major transportation hub, there is an old joke saying that whenever you die, regardless of whether you go to heaven or hell, you will connect through Atlanta.
